Thanksgiving is coming up, but after thinking about it, I have very little to be thankful for. Gabe Saporta's voice is messed up from vocal cysts, The Academy Is... is off tour, Evan still hasn't returned my calls, the Folie a Deux release date got pushed back to December, and last week when I went to an All Time Low show I kept getting pushed around in the pit, and I ended up breaking my collarbone during "Coffee Shop Soundtrack" which made me miss the rest of their set. Also I didn't get to meet Alex Gaskarth after the show which means I didn't get to ask him what the real meaning of "Remembering Sunday" is. Nothing is going right in my life so why should I be thankful? Everything lately has just been tragic.
Oh well. At least Bronx Mowgli Wentz was finally born and he's doing well. I'm so happy for Pete and Ashlee, though part of me wishes they would have kept with tradition and named their son Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz IV. However I totally respect Pete for breaking the mold and doing something different.
Anyhow, I guess I can be thankful for The Academy Is... releasing "Winter Passing" as a single. It's such a beautiful song and I can almost taste the emotion that William BeckettĀ put into it.
So yesterday I was feeling existential, so I decided to start re-reading (for the seventeenth time) The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This book defined my awkward teenage years. There are just so many great one-liners and observations about life, it's impossible not to love it. Stephen Chbosky is one of my favorite authors.
I guess since I'm on the subject of literature, I should mention that I also connect on a deep, unfathomable level with the works of Chuck Palahniuk. I've tried to describe my love for him but words fail me. He overwhelms me with his immense way with language.
I'm going to end this blog with my favorite Panic(!) at the Disco lyrics that mirror a Chuck Palahniuk excerpt. They are two of my favorite things combined.
"Just for the record, the weather today is slightly sarcastic with a good chance of:
a) indifference and
b) disinterest
as to what the critics say."
